Meetings has been held in the project BRIDGES, in St: Petersburg on February 20-22, 2004 and in Oslo on March 25-28, 2004 where there was a 3 days seminar for Lithuanian and Russian law students organised by the project partners. The final meeting of BRIDGES took place in Vilnius in the summer of 2004.
BalticFem was participating as one of four project partners in this project aimed at developing long term co-operation between women’s organisations in the Nordic, Baltic and Northwest Russia regions. The project is named BRIDGES and project co-ordinators are Women’s Issues Information Centre from Lithuania www.lygus.lt. Other participating partners are Legal Advice for Women – Norway – www.jurk.no and League of women voters of St.Petersburg – Russia – www.liga-rf.ru. The project was funded by the Nordic Council.
The main aims of BRIDGES were:
- to increase knowledge of gender equality and raise awareness on women’s issues
- to promote joint events and future projects on womens position in society
- to provide legal aid for vulnerable and socially rejected women living in powerty.
